København N

We are searching for a skilled post doc/molecular biologist with specific interest in investigating the underlying mechanisms of normal and malignance hematopoiesis with a focus on the genetics of hereditary MDS/AML.

Our research/The group
The focus of the Grønbæk group is Translational Hematology. The group is affiliated with both Biotech Research and Innovation centre (BRIC), Rigshospitalet (Central Copenhagen University Hospital), and University of Copenhagen.

Our overall aim is to understand the molecular mechanisms of hematological cancers, and based on this; to design, develop and implement novel, scientifically based, preclinical and clinical trials, with a strong focus on epigenetic therapies. This is done by bridging between clinical research at Rigshospitalet and the basic cancer biology research at BRIC, and in international collaborations with, among others, the van Andel Research Institute, Michigan, USA and the Nordic MDS study group.

Our location at the Copenhagen Biocentre/BRIC provides optimal conditions for interaction with the basic scientists at BRIC. The group currently consists of 11 scientists, MD/scientists and students, one clinical research coordinator, 2 research nurses and one laboratory technician.

Your job
The project focus on pre-clinical vaccination studies in early stage myeloid cancers. We are searching for a skilled molecular biologist who is very interactive and enjoys collaborations with other scientists – including younger scientists and clinician scientists

Your tasks will include:

  • Laboratory work: Develop and analyze transgenic mouse models, including vaccination of mice, elispot, flow cytometry, cell line and primary cell culture, next generation sequencing, PCR, dd PCR, epigenetic studies.
  • Develop mouse models, in particular non conditioned mouse models of clonal hematopoiesis and early stage myeloid cancer with mutations in epigenetic regulators using genome editing techniques. Characterize both myeloid compartment and the immune microenvironment. Perform vaccination studies in the mice.
  • Perform molecular techniques including DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, ddPCR, RNA-seq, ATAC-seq and DNA methylation.
  • Develop and perform protein analyses techniques including Western blotting, Mass-spectrometry and ChIP-seq.
  • Analyze large sequencing data using R language.
  • Participate in grant and manuscript writing.
  • Present at local and international meetings.
  • Supervising lab techniques to new lab members and students
  • Collaboration with both scientists and clinicians

Start: January 1 2024

Duration: 3 years with possibility of extension

Qualifications
We expect you to be a highly motivated and highly ambitious, independent scientist with the following qualifications:

  • A PhD in Life Sciences with a preferred focus on investigating molecular mechanisms of disease.
  • A strong background in mechanisms of normal and malignant hematopoiesis and molecular hematology techniques.
  • Comprehensive lab skills in molecular and cellular biology techniques.
  • Documented experience with generating new mouse models
  • Performing mouse experimentation and analyses, including vaccination studies.
  • Strong experience in immunology and vaccination strategies
  • Publication and presentation record in peer reviewed journals and international conferences.
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills
  • Very collaborative
  • Good social skills
