DRC’s International Department supports vulnerable people both with long-term activities and short-term response in more than 30 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. We have approx. 50 colleagues based in Copenhagen and approx. 125 colleagues around the world. The overall purpose of DRC’s international engagement is to increase and strengthen the humanitarian impact, inspire, act for human dignity, and enhance resilience and social cohesion in fragile contexts of poverty, conflict, and disaster.
The position
The Partnership Advisor is part of the Global Partnership Unit, which is responsible for the global resource mobilization and coordinating the strategic direction of the Danish Red Cross’ organizational partnerships, external and within the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement (RCRC). The unit supports and carries out quality assurance concerning compliance and strategic content in relation to proposals to core donors.
You will be the DRC go-to person and key entry point in relation to providing updated, quality and timely advice and technical support to the operation on Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) funding and will be instrumental in the planning and coordination across the organization of major processes related to MFA funding. Furthermore, you will to the extent possible work across the team and have a surge function to support coordination and writing of applications within the Institutional Partner team.
Main responsibilities
- Obtain and share updated knowledge on MFA policies, strategies, priorities and trends
- Proactively explore new funding opportunities with Country and regional Managers and HQ staff
- Ensure strategic guidance and support on new opportunities
- Coordinate and support proposal development (special grants), insurance of quality and consistency in Donor Proposals
- Provide support on site when needed by the operation and when deemed necessary
- Support the grant contract negotiation and signing and Support negotiations and agreements with consortium partners
- Ensure coordination and compliance related to the Strategic Partnership Agreement with MFA.
- Develop and update tools and guidelines and provide capacity building/training of staff on MFA rules and regulations
- Liaise with the finance DRC dpt. to ensure timely financial reporting
We expect you to have the following qualifications
- Hold an academic degree in social science, international development or similar
- Minimum 3-4 years’ working experience in a humanitarian/dev. Organization
- Experience with donor modalities and compliance
- Experience with programming, proposal writing
- In-depth understanding of the project cycle and LFA approach
- Knowledge of DANIDA/MFA procedures and strategic developments an advantage
- Strong planning and coordination skills
- Excellent English and Danish language skills necessary
- Experience from the Red Cross movement an advantage but not a prerequisite

- Able to facilitate processes and engage people to use their resources effectively
- A problem solver that enjoys providing support
- Flexible and able to travel a minimum of 8 weeks/year
- A pronounced team player with strong cooperation skills and ability to listen to others

A full-time position of 37 working hours per week in a busy and inspiring workplace showing flexibility and caring about staff welfare. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to work in a motivated team and be part of Danish Red Cross’ large global humanitarian action and contribute to impact. You will refer to the Head of Global Partnership in Copenhagen.
Salary and employment conditions will comply with Danish Red Cross’s collective bargain agreement with HK and AC.
