The position In this position, you will be part of moving laboratory gram-scale chemistry processes to kg-scale and will be working in the process flow towards providing active pharmaceuticals available for our portfolio of development projects. Your responsibility as a Pilot Chemist is e.g. to transfer the processes from the development laboratory to pilot scale. The processes are within the area of chemical modification of peptides, solid phase chemistry and small molecule organic chemistry. The job includes: Planning of the chemical activities on scale
The acquisition of raw materials
Preparation of production recipes
Providing campaign reports
Handling deviations etc.
You will be a sparring partner with chemists in Chemical Development to make sure a robust process is developed and responsible for instructing the pilot technicians how to manufacture in a safe and robust manner. From time to time, you will also participate in the activities in our pilot plant and overseeing the synthetic activities in the pilot facility. Our new Pilot Chemist will be responsible for the preparation of documents needed by authorities. You will also from time to time, be involved in external collaborations with different contract manufacturing organizations as our “Manufacturing responsible Chemist” and we expect that this activity will increase over time as you will be more and more experienced. Finally, this job will also include participating in problem-solving and ongoing optimization of the processes, both as ad-hoc projects and larger improvement projects. Qualifications Our ideal candidate possess: A master or PhD in organic chemistry, chemical engineering or equivalent
Experience from upscaling of chemical processes and GMP (an advantage but not a requirement)
As a person, you are well structured, have good planning skills and are prepared to learn how a pilot plant is operated. We expect you to have excellent collaboration skills since the job involves collaboration across different areas with people from different backgrounds. Further, you should feel confident with and be able to make carefully considered decisions in a hectic work environment. About the department As part of PSQIT organisation, Chemistry, Manufacturing and Control (CMC) Development & Scaling makes a real difference for patients with chronic diseases across the world. We develop, manufacture and distribute drug candidates for clinical trials and have a strong culture with a “can do” mind-set. The job is within , CMC Development and Scaling; Chemistry Pilot Plant in Bagsværd, Denmark. In the department you will find around 45 highly skilled colleagues divided in three teams taking care of Synthetic Chemistry, Purification and Support. The characteristics of your coming colleagues are their “can-do” attitude and dedication within process scale-up and providing drug substance available for our non-clinical and clinical studies. As we work in the interface between Research and commercial Manufacture you will work in an environment with changing prioritizations from time to time.
