About the job:

The Product Governance Manager (PGM) sits at the core of ensuring our decisions are in keeping with regulation and above all in the best interests of our clients.” – Kieran Phyo, Head of Asset Management

Responsibilities:

Working alongside the Investment Specialist team that selects third party funds, constructs and implements portfolios, the Product Governance Manager will ensure that our methods for client risk profiling is up to scratch, that we have a sufficiently strong rationale for building investment portfolios the way we do and that they are suitable for the client mandate. You will be responsible for control processes and that documentation is put into place, ensuring structure and robustness.

You will be the Investment team authority when engaging with other departments in Saxo, including OpRisk, Compliance and Legal, amongst other governing committees. In the case of internal inspection conducted by our Risk, Audit and/or Compliance departments, you will take the lead with this interaction, furnishing those departments with the information required and representing the Investment team.

There is also a high degree of engagement with the client advisers and platform owners, who host the client suitability profiling process and need the Product Governance Manager's guidance to strike the optimal balance between user experience, convenience and due diligence.

Your profile:

  • Demonstratable track record of the Product Governance Management responsibilities.

  • Excellent knowledge of wealth/portfolio management and investment advice business activities for retail and private clients.

  • Clear understanding of the MIFID II requirements within the context of wealth management, advice and execution-only services. Client suitability and target market distribution sit at the core of this.

  • Familiarity with the new SFDR (Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation) and the corresponding obligations that financial service manufacturers and distributors have towards it.

  • Sharp eye for detail and ability to identify gaps in our governance standards.


Nice to have: prior governance ownership of the distribution of complex instruments including complex funds, leveraged products (CFDS, futures, options) is a plus.

Nice to have: experience in constructing and formalising first line committees and decision-making forums for the purpose of implementing our policies and procedures.

Further you are collaborative in nature and comfortable dealing with different people throughout the organisation. You will need to champion the team mindset of creating structure and control, amongst the company’s highly dynamic and evolving working environment. Self-determination is a prerequisite; you are proactive and keen to instigate change. On the front line you are the person giving the answers, not asking the questions.
