The position You will be leading our R&D organization which is responsible for driving innovation projects, process development, technology transfer and manufacturing development.
ou will manage R&D in order to meet short- and long-term objectives according to strategy, budgets and our core values (Novo Nordisk Way).
You will develop the R&D strategy in support of the overall Novo Nordisk Pharmatech strategy, as well as develop and maintain an R&D portfolio that ensures that we fulfil expectations from our customers. You will be responsible for our new-product-entry (NPE) pipeline and driving innovation in the field of process enzymes, media components and chromatography resins, all supporting bioprocessing in the Biopharma industry. Specifically, the growth strategy of Novo Nordisk Pharmatech has focus on projects addressing and enabling bioprocesses within regenerative medicines. In this regard, you will also be responsible for our external engagements within strategic focus areas. You will own, facilitate, and execute our development project portfolio (PSG). This will entail securing process development and validation of new products in the pipeline as well as life cycle management of existing products. The Project management is organized in R&D. However, the projects are resourced cross functionally in a matrix organization. Finally, R&D is responsible for the operation of a resin production facility. The facility is used for production of products to the market and for development of new chromatography resins. In your role as head of R&D you will be reporting directly to the CEO of Novo Nordisk Pharmatech and therefore be part of the Executive leadership team. Qualifications You hold a master’s degree supplemented with a PhD, preferably within the Life Science field, and have 5+ years of experience at senior managerial level in the biopharmaceutical industry ideally including project management experience in leading cross-organizational projects. You possess experience in the pharmaceutical, life science, or biotech industry and/or a deep understanding of the R&D value chain. Furthermore, you have a strong, broad scientific insight spanning both technological and biological disciplines. In addition to succeeding in the role you: Have excellent leadership and people skills Demonstrated experience in developing strategy and strategy implementation Demonstrated ability to drive processes and projects from idea to implementation Have excellent communication and stakeholder management skills Proficiency in both spoken and written English is essential As a person, you are innovative and ambitious, able to build trusting relationships and to efficiently facilitate and negotiate to ensure the right decisions are made. You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with the ambition to understand biotechnological processes. You have the big picture in mind and are strongly motivated to explore new ideas and methods in driving innovation to the benefit of our customers. You are a strong communicator, both in writing and verbally, and you are capable of structuring and story-lining complex topics in a simple way to facilitate efficient decision-making. You work systematically and can easily motivate people around you. About the department R&D currently consists of 45 employees and is growing. The area is organized in two departments a research unit and a manufacturing development unit, the latter also including the resin manufacturing pilot.
