Are you interested in working with one of the world’s most successful pharmaceutical companies together with a top-ranked university? Do you want to be involved in contributing to Novo Nordisk global strategy of utilising advanced in vitro systems for predicting drug-drug interactions for our siRNA drug candidates? If so, you now have the opportunity to apply for a Postdoc project at Novo Nordisk in collaboration with the Centre for Applied Pharmacokinetic Research (CAPKR, https://www.capkr.manchester.ac.uk/), University of Manchester. The position
The use of micro physiological systems is gaining traction within the pharmaceutical industry where the systems have shown great potential in the preclinical assessment of drug candidates. As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will play a crucial role in a project aimed at enabling Novo Nordisk to use in vitro micro physiological systems in drug development. The project aims to evaluate potential clinical drug-drug interaction risk via regulation of CYP enzymes and relevant transporters by therapeutic siRNAs. This project will give you the opportunity to develop competences and skills within novel cellular systems, therapeutic siRNAs, and proteomics. The postdoctoral employment is based at Novo Nordisk in the Copenhagen area and the research is in close collaboration with Professor Aleksandra Galetin at the University of Manchester and Novo Nordisk Global Nucleic Acid Therapies. It is expected that the Postdoc will travel to University of Manchester for some of the lab-based activities (two stays of approximately 3 months each). The project will also include a short trip of ~2 weeks to Novo Nordisk in Boston. The remaining time will be in Novo Nordisk Måløv. This creates a unique opportunity to expand your network both within the pharmaceutical industry as well as the distinguished research group in CAPKR. Results generated within the project will be published in peer reviewed journals. Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate that holds or close to finish a Ph.D. in Drug metabolism/transport, Pharmaceutical or Biomedical Sciences or a related discipline and who has laboratory-based experience with cellular in vitro systems and quantitative proteomics.
To thrive and succeed in this position:
  • Understanding of DMPK principles is highly desirable
  • Experience with drug-drug interaction prediction will be a major advantage
  • Experience with analytical techniques such as qPCR and LC-MS/MS is considered a plus
  • The ideal candidate demonstrates scientific productivity, evidenced by high-quality research publications
  • You should possess exceptional organizational skills and maintain a proficient level of English
  • Additionally, you have good interpersonal skills, as this project is based on a close collaboration between several research groups, you should be interested in building relationships between the project members. About the department
You will join Global Discovery & Development Sciences in the Novo Nordisk R&D organisation. The position will be associated to the department of Development ADME which is responsible for the investigation and evaluation of drug-drug interactions for compounds in drug development. The project will take place in close collaboration with Novo Nordisk Global Nucleic Acid Therapies and CAPKR, University of Manchester under the supervision of principal investigator Professor Aleksandra Galetin. Professor Galetin’s expertise is in mechanistic in vitro characterisation of hepatic and renal enzymes and transporters in different cell systems; PBPK/translational modelling of transporter kinetics and endogenous biomarkers for transporter-mediated drug-drug interactions, more information here https://www.research.manchester.ac.uk/portal/aleksandra.galetin.html.
