The Position As the Head of Engineering, you will lead a dedicated team working closely with research, design, and prototyping colleagues to bring delivery solution opportunities to life. Your main responsibilities will include: Enabling the progress of projects in the innovation portfolio by delivering engineering support and engaging with project managers Providing conceptualization, engineering design, systems engineering, and HW/SW support to projects Defining product requirements and converting them into robust concepts ready for development Guiding and setting direction for the team, while also developing the team and culture to ensure a world-class work environment. Qualifications We are looking for a person who is motivated to make a difference for people living with chronic illness. Someone with outstanding communication skills and the ability to showcase how they lead, build, and develop a high-performing team, as well as hands-on experience with change management. To thrive and succeed, we expect you to have: A master’s degree in a relevant engineering field such as mechanical engineering, design engineering, systems engineering, or a similar discipline. 10+ years of experience in early product development of physical products and product platforms, preferably within medical device innovation and development, along with 5+ years of relevant leadership experience in a similar role. A proven track record in maturing opportunities into new platform concepts and successfully launching products to market. Experience working with - and a solid understanding of - user research, design, and usability engineering, and their roles in innovation and product development. Professional proficiency in English. It would be considered an advantage if you have: Exposure to full lifecycle management of devices or consumer products, including but not limited to advanced mechanical design, usability, and transfer to high-volume manufacturing, as well as a working knowledge of ISO 11608. As a person, you are responsible, curious, structured, take initiative, feel calm when exposed to complex challenges, and have a ‘can do’ mindset. You are motivated by empowering and delivering through others. You are good at making prioritisations and you are not afraid of getting involved and being hands-on. In addition, you are a strong team player who enjoys working with and connecting multiple stakeholders across competence areas and are recognized for your interpersonal skills. About the department The Engineering Team is part of the Delivery Solutions Innovation (DSI) area within Novo Nordisk Devices & Delivery Solutions (DDS), an organization responsible for the development of human-cantered solutions for medical self-treatment within all business areas of Novo Nordisk. DSI is a diverse team of over 150 experienced professionals – designers, researchers, engineers, scientists, project managers, and prototyping specialists, focused on multi-modal healthcare innovation – from connected injection devices to regulated software products. In Engineering, we develop devices with cutting-edge technology. This being both pen devices and devices utilizing novel administration routes and delivery technologies, we are expanding our portfolio. Hence the Engineering team are motivated by advancing the care of people living with Diabetes, Obesity, and other chronic conditions. We are located in Hillerød, in the greater Copenhagen area.
