BACKGROUND


Export is a vital focus area in Harboe's strategy for the coming years, and will be a key driver for the company's continued growth and profit generation.

Harboe is represented in more than 90 countries worldwide - outside the Nordic countries and Germany, primarily via distributors and agents, who handle sales and cooperation with retail chains and other segments in the local markets. The product range consists of both own brands and private labels. The export department is lead by the Export Director and consists of 4 Export Managers and 4 customer service employees.

We’re looking for a new Export Manager to run and develop the Asian markets. Strong competences in distributor / partner search and cooperation from an FMCG company is crucial.

Beer is the dominant product line for Harboe in Asia. There is solid growth potential in increasing sales in the beer category - both with the Bear Beer-brand, which is currently the largest brand in the export portfolio, and via launching beer from the other brands - Harboe and Darguner. At the same time, there is great potential in expanding the business within private labels and the other product categories: Malt drinks and energy drinks.


THE POSITION


As Export Manager for Asia, you will be responsible for handling and in particular for growing the business across Asia e.g. in China, Japan, Taiwan and Thailand – but also target other Asian markets. At present there are established distributor agreements in several countries, but at the same time there is a huge unexploited potential which must be utilized both by signing of new distributors, optimization of the existing contracts and not least via a close and proactive distributor cooperation.

The main responsibilities and tasks will be:

  • Developing and expanding the market position and business in Asia both via search and signing of new distributors / partners, intensified cooperation with existing and a better activation of the product portfolio.
  • Identify new commercial opportunities and exploit the potentials based on an analytical market approach.
  • Contract negotiation, revision and formation.
  • Close and visible distributor cooperation, e.g. around local market efforts, joint visits at key costumers, product launches, fairs, etc.
  • Ensure maximum visibility and priority at the individual distributor - including inclusion of Harboe's products and news in the distributor's activity plans and marketing.
  • Ongoing close follow-up on the distributor's performance and results.
  • Ongoing training of the distributor's employees and key customers.
  • Obtain, analyse and use market data and insights.
  • Ensure an overall good and efficient cooperation between distributors and the internal support staff.
  • Compose and take responsibility for budgets and plans for your markets.
  • Close cooperation and knowledge sharing with the Export Director and your colleagues in the export team.


THE CANDIDATE


To be successful you should have experience with export sales in Asia through distributors or agents and be very familiar with the role as market responsible for an FMCG-company. You are driven by identifying and delivering on commercial opportunities, is highly motivated by delivering growth and visible results and thrive in a role with strong focus on creating new and better business. You have a strong record of both operating and developing existing partner relationships and with identifying, qualifying and signing of agreements with new distributors.

You have solid insight into at least on of the major Asian markets (preferably China) – including knowledge of market conditions and market structures, culture and preferably language.

Specifically, we prioritise:

  • Experience from a similar position with focus on handling and developing sales via local distributors and/or agents in Asian markets.
  • Conversant with the role as overall customer manager with budget responsibility for own markets.
  • Both a strategic and tactical mindset with the ability to identify and develop business potential both via market analysis, expansion of the distributor network and optimal activation of the product portfolio.
  • Experience with negotiating distributor contracts and condition and monitor distributor performance.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of a partner organization.
  • Systematically obtain and use data and market insight as a natural part of your work.
  • Strong communication and language skills.
  • A natural proactive and result-oriented approach to your area of responsibility.
  • Good IT-skills (e.g. Excel and use of BI).
  • Graduates with longer commercial education are preferred.

As a person, you are vigorous, ambitious and independent. It is crucial that you are driven by creating results through close and proactive collaboration with key customers and that you are motivated by identifying market opportunities, qualifying them through insight and analysis and ensuring the best possible execution. It's also important that you are able to collaborate with your manager and colleagues – sometimes on long-distance – and not least that you are a team-player who both contributes with and receives knowledge and energy from a close dialogue with your colleagues.


OTHER ISSUES


English fluent is a requirement. Danish and a major Asian language will be an advantage.
Location – preferred DK or northern Germany; but other location can also be relevant.
Flexible and varying working hours and locations must be expected.
Yearly travel days +50.
Attractive salary package negotiated individually.
