As Director you will be responsible for the Engineering resources in the new established unit: Device Manufacturing & Sourcing (DMS) II. Many of the engineering activities will initially be geared towards establishing a high-volume manufacturing plant in Denmark and a Contract Manufacturing Organisation (CMO) in the Americas. Therefore, you will play a crucial role in ensuring operational readiness. As we get closer to having the plant and CMO up and running more operational tasks will emerge, and the organization will adapt and develop accordingly. This will give you an opportunity to direct your career more toward production management. You will report directly to the Vice President of DMS II. Your main responsibilities will include to:
  • Lead the department by communicating its purpose and setting a vision and strategy for the future. This involves translating higher-level strategies and roadmaps in close collaboration with stakeholders. You will ensure clear roles and responsibilities between teams and employees and define the interfaces with the rest of the organization, particularly the development organization and the project responsible for building the high-volume manufacturing plant.
  • Build a well-functioning team with highly skilled employees. Since DMS II is an organization in the build-up phase, recruiting engineers, with the help of our talent acquisition partners and based on your personal network, will be an important part of your job. During this process, you are conscious of the behaviour you want to promote and the culture you want to build within your department and within DMS II.   • Work closely with the different projects to create resource requirements and ensure that budgets are developed accordingly.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers to ensure that the manufacturing processes are robust and state-of-the-art and that all operational systems and procedures are in place for a smooth and safe operation. Furthermore, you will ensure that operators and technicians are adequately trained, and a strong support organization is in place.
  • Meet with internal and external stakeholders regularly, both in formal governance meetings and informally. You will gather feedback on the performance of your team and projects and initiate corrective actions if necessary.
  • Represent your Engineering department in the DMD II Management team and contribute valuable insights regarding topics such as strategy and organizational development.
  • The position will be based in both Hillerød and Odense. Qualifications
    To succeed in this position, we expect you to:
  • Hold a Bachelor or Master degree in Engineering or another relevant field
  • Have strong experience in people management and leading leaders, as well as the ability to create followship
  • Possess a proven background in the field of manufacturing development and/or production of medical devices, including process validation.
  • Be fluent in English, both spoken and written.
  • It would be considered as a plus if you are fluent in Danish and have previously work as Project Manager with responsibility for capacity establishment/expansion projects involving external suppliers and multiple engineering disciplines.     About the department
    Novo Nordisk is significantly increasing its manufacturing capacity across all areas to serve many more patients in the coming years. To this end, a new Device Manufacturing & Sourcing business unit (DMS II) has recently been created to ensure medical device component manufacturing and pre-assembly capacity for future growth. In the years to come, we are focused on establishing a new global manufacturing network consisting of suppliers, CMOs, and a new high-volume manufacturing plant in Denmark.
