Senior Decarbonisation Manager to help decarbonising Maersk’s shipping business

We see it as our obligation as an industry leader to do all we can to get to net zero operations as fast as possible and enable our customers to decarbonise their global supply chains end-to-end. Decarbonisation is a core part of Maersk’s overall business priorities and supported by a dedicated Decarbonisation function that ensures collaboration across commercial, operational, technological, and corporate entities. Today, Maersk is emitting ~60mtCO2e across scope 1-3, which is the size of a country’s emissions, and it will therefore be challenging to reach net zero emissions, but we believe it can be done!
If you want to shape this journey and have a tangible impact on how climate change unfolds, we are looking for a Senior Decarbonisation Manager to join the Ocean Decarbonisation Execution Team. The team manages the strategy to reduce scope 1-3 emissions of Maersk’s containerised ocean shipping business.

Responsibilities
As a Senior Decarbonisation Manager, you will together with the rest of the team help manage the roadmap to decarbonize all emissions related to Maersk’s Ocean shipping business and execute it by collaborating with functions such as Fleet Network Design, Fleet Operations, Fleet Management, Fleet Procurement, Fuel Sourcing, Commercial. You will:
- Work in close collaboration with functions to identify levers within energy efficiency and green fuels to decarbonize
- Use your stakeholder management skills to develop strong relationships with functions to create ownership of initiatives and drive towards decarbonisation
- Maintain overview of the net cost of ocean decarbonisation, including OPEX, CAPEX and cost recovery initiatives
- Develop analyses to optimize the roadmap for cost of abatement, regulation, and other strategic considerations
- Integrate CO2 in decision-making processes across Maersk
- Track implementation of initiatives and actively create the right discussions, challenge functions, but also help with course correction
- Assess roadmap risks and mitigation options
What we are looking for in an ideal candidate
- Master’s degree or equivalent level of education
- 4+ years of work experience
- Is structured in approach to solve problems
- Knows how to effectively engage senior stakeholders
- Has a flair for numbers and comfortably works with complex data
- Can handle ambiguity and changes with a smile
- Wants to learn about ocean container shipping
- Is passionate about climate change and reducing CO2 emissions
