The position As the Senior Director of Strategic Collaborations, you will embark on an impactful journey where your innovative and forward-thinking mindset will serve as the catalyst for forging transformative partnerships. Your role will be pivotal in bridging the gap between academia, including expansive postdoctoral programs, and dynamic external companies with the various functional domains within our Development organization. In this thrilling position, you will take the lead in crafting ambitious collaborations, orchestrating the search for ideal external and internal partners, and contributing to the definition of long-term visionary objectives for these partnerships. Your unwavering commitment will ensure that these dynamic collaborations are not only initiated but also steered with the utmost professionalism. You will join us in shaping the future of joint innovation between Novo Nordisk Development and the outside world, where your expertise will be the key to unlocking limitless potential. Other responsibilities will include: Connect to the broader organisation and help expand or reshape active partnerships beyond the originating functional area as appropriate.
Leading a dedicated team of project and alliance managers and work closely with Alliance Management in Corporate Development in ensuring optimal processes and support to new and ongoing partnerships.
Define and drive strategies for working with scientific incubator hubs across the globe in leveraging and furthering external innovation to the future benefit of Development in Novo Nordisk and to patients.
We are based in Søborg, Denmark. The position requires up to 15% international travel. This role reports to the Head of Development External Innovation (DEI) and be a member of the Development External Innovation Leadership Team. Qualifications Scientific or medical educational background, preferably at MSc, MD, or PhD level
10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry or in academia working with collaborations
Broad scientific insight and interest as well as an analytical mindset with ability to efficiently collaborate with in house as well as external subject of matter experts
Demonstrate insight to the pharma value chain as well as pharma business understanding
Business planning skills – experience with project planning tools and processes
In-depth understanding of contracts and ability to translate complex contract terms and conditions into simple outlines to support strategic and operational imperatives
As a person you possess excellent interpersonal skills with ability to lead, interact with, focus, negotiate, and resolve conflict between people and organizations. Your extensive experience in international settings has provided you with a deep understanding of how diverse cultures can influence business relationships. About the Department Development External Innovation is a newly formed department in the Development EVP area. The department supports Development and Corporate Development in internalizing external innovation covering all attributes constituting the final pharmaceutical treatment solution. The support involves: Innovation, assessments, due diligence, integration, and alliance management. We aspire to make Novo Nordisk Development the preferred partner for external organizations.
