The Software Solutions department supports the highly scientific areas at Gubra by developing and maintaining bespoke software for a diverse palette of applications such as data analysis, data management and support for the day-to-day operations at Gubra. You will be part of a department that consists of highly passionate developers, all with a background in biological or medical sciences. The department develops smart and tailor-made solutions to understand and visualize biological problems in close collaboration with other scientists, often with short yet realistic deadlines. Additionally, the department is heavily involved in the digitalization of Gubra and the software they develop plays a pivotal part in Gubra’s technology development and drug discovery strategies.
The tasks of a software solution scientist at Gubra include, but are not limited to, development and maintenance of apps for data analysis and data management tasks across the organization. Tasks will be defined and aligned with the candidate’s qualifications, preferences, and seniority. Here is what our tech stack looks like:
A perfect candidate will have professional knowledge and skills within software development in a biological context and with one or more elements of our tech stack. - Web Development: R Shiny for creating bespoke, interactive web applications that leverage the power of R programming language for data analysis and visualization.
- Backend / API: FastAPI Python framework, for building robust APIs with proper documentation.
- Database: Postgres for secure, flexible, and scalable relational database management.
- Deployment: Docker for containerization, providing portability and efficient deployment across our on-premises servers.
- Project Management: Agile - Scrum.

- Educational or professional background in computational or biological sciences with a keen interest in working in biotech.
- Familiar with working in a Linux environment
- Experience working with Scrum or eagerness to learn.
- Familiar with developing software using R-Shiny and/or Python.
- Experience interacting with databases from R or Python using R-DBI, SQLAlchemy, Psycopg or equivalent.
- Familiar with working on shared codebases using Git.
- Web application development.
