The position: The Scientific Analytics Lab Data Engineer will be responsible for creating and refining solutions for future data analytics platforms. Working within an interdisciplinary product team, including colleagues from R&ED, DSI, and our global IT organization, you will engage with a diverse set of stakeholders. Your role will involve aligning with scientific software engineers, architects, the product owner, and other stakeholders to coordinate the delivery of digital solutions within an agile model, while fostering strong relationships across the R&ED organization. As a Scientific Analytics Lab Data Engineer at Novo Nordisk, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Define data models, design workflows, and implement data pipelines for our future research data analytics platforms.
  • Support scientists by enabling them to use research data platforms and analytics apps, and optimize raw data capture.
  • Contribute to the integration between existing and future data platforms.
  • Develop, configure, and maintain intuitive digital solutions that deliver value to our organization.
  • Collaborate with software engineers and architects to create a holistic solution landscape for our research data analytics platforms.
  • Ensure the seamless operation of digital solutions in collaboration with the agile product team.
  • Foster exchange within the team on software development and data engineering practices for complex scientific digital solutions.
  • Qualifications: To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
  • PhD or equivalent in Life Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, Statistics, Chemistry, Computer Engineering required, or a BSc/MSc and 5+ years of experience in life sciences, medical device, or the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Broad expertise ranging from research data management to scientific digital solutions, including the ability to perform hands-on technical work.
  • Expertise in processing scientific data, including ETLs, data analyses, and visualizations.
  • Extensive technical knowledge and experience, particularly in Python scripting.
  • Experience with data workflow platforms such as Pipeline Pilot and KNIME.
  • Experience with data visualization platforms like Spotfire and Power BI.
  • Preferably, experience with other object-oriented coding languages like .NET / C#.
  • Solid understanding of relational databases, like Oracle, and some experience with SQL and/or PL/SQL.
  • Solid knowledge about domain-driven architecture and solution design.
  • Familiarity with the FAIR principles and their value, particularly in the context of in-vivo research data.
  • Ability to thrive amidst ambiguity and identify unexpressed problems and derived requirements for digital solutions in a complex global research organization.
  • About the department: You will join the Software Products Department, within Data Management and Informatics of DSI, enabling Novo Nordisk R&ED researchers and laboratories with digital solutions to take the best data-driven decision. The team members closely collaborate with product owners, scientific software engineers and researchers to create impactful solutions to accelerate digitalization across R&ED.
