The position Our new (Senior) Process Development Chemist will be a process development scientific expert and take part in Novo Nordisk development projects, acting as a technical coordinator. Your prime objective will be to ensure a seamless flow of technical and scientific knowledge between Novo Nordisk and our external partners, whose laboratory, pilot plant, and production activities you will be supporting. This includes being deeply involved in the details of process development, reviewing documentation, and troubleshooting on manufacturing issues. You will, together with a team of internal colleagues, cover versatile professional disciplines, ensure project progression according to plans and delivery of products. The projects will primarily be in or approaching phase 3. The position does generally not include hands on laboratory work, since this part is taking place at the external partners. You will on the other hand be expected to actively participate in interpretation of data generated in the lab and setting the direction for process development. Here you will develop your scientific expertise, securing task and knowledge sharing in close collaboration with highly talented and motivated colleagues. Qualifications Our ideal candidate: You hold a PhD in organic chemistry or equivalent relevant experience Your academic degree is supplemented with industrial experience in process or analytical development Previously you have been working in a GxP-regulated environment You understand Contract Development and Manufacturing Organisations (CDMOs) You have been writing and reviewing regulatory and quality documentation Your tasks will require that you both submerge in scientific details and maintain and communicate overview of the project to your stakeholders – so it is important that you thrive in both settings. As a person you take pride in delivering on time and at the right quality level and have excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. You are fluent in written and spoken English. About the department Chemical Development consists of more than 60 employees, divided into four teams. The department contributes to the delivery of chemical and semi-recombinant APIs, including synthetic peptides, oligonucleotides, small molecules, as well as novel excipients. Furthermore, the department is responsible for development of chemical intermediates and starting materials for the modification of recombinant peptides and proteins. New technologies, to support our pipeline with sustainable processes, are also being pursued internally and externally in collaboration with business partners and academia. The team consists of 13 chemists responsible for outsourced chemical process development activities. We are typically involved in what we refer to as late-stage projects from start of development for phase 3 and we mature processes towards both internal requirements and expectations of the authorities. We deliver material to clinical studies by means of our worldwide CDMO’s, and we follow projects through process validation and transfer to Novo Nordisk commercial production organisation. The team is, together with external partners and internal stakeholders, involved in process and specification justification, risk assessments, as well as regulatory submissions to authorities. We may also be involved at an earlier project stage or support the commercial production organisation with our expertise. Working at Novo Nordisk Novo Nordisk is its people.
