As a Specialist/Principal Scientist, you will be part of the in vitro vascular biology team, identifying new treatment opportunities for cardiovascular and other cardiometabolic diseases. Your role will involve leading cutting-edge projects and research that aim to characterize novel treatments for microvascular dysfunction. You will employ advanced molecular and cellular techniques to identify specific molecular pathways and targets associated with this condition.
Your responsibilities will encompass executing projects, designing in vitro experiments to validate human relevance, utilizing translational tools, and exploring the mechanism of action. You will work closely with other team members to move projects forward across the value chain and collaborate seamlessly with other key stakeholders. Furthermore, you will take part in evaluating potential external opportunities from academia, biotech, or pharma.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you are expected to have: A PhD within Life Sciences with a minimum of 5 years of research experience related to vascular biology and with specific expertise in microvascular dysfunction. Industrial drug discovery experience is a requirement. Profound experience with setting up and running advanced human in vitro models of vascular diseases. Experience with 3D cell culture models is an advantage. A scientific track record within vascular pathophysiology. International experience and a strong network within esteemed academic institutions is mandatory. Strong collaboration skills, fostering effective teamwork across disciplines. Proficiency in both spoken and written English is essential. On a personal level, you are dedicated, pro-active, well-organized, and responsible and have a passion for troubleshooting and experimentation. In addition, you are collaborative and a team player and can operate in a dynamic environment with multiple concurrent tasks.

The position is anchored in the Vascular Biology department which is part of Cardiorenal Research within Global Drug Discovery, Novo Nordisk A/S. As part of Novo Nordisk’s strategy within chronic metabolic diseases, we are focusing on target identification, target validation, and pre-clinical characterization of new assets intended to become novel treatment options for patients living with cardiometabolic diseases. In close collaboration with our colleagues, we are working in an organ-centric and disease agnostic manner to develop, characterize, and utilize in vitro tools to elucidate mode-of-action and profiling of novel biology and molecules for early evaluation of drug candidates.
