The Mads Clausen Institute, NanoSYD Centre invites applications for a fully-funded Postdoc position on Interreg Deutschland-Danmark project "PRECISE - Intelligent solution for sustainable meat production and consumption". The starting date is April 1st, 2023, or as soon as possible thereafter, for a 3-year period.

What we offer
The Postdoc project is part of the Interreg Deutschland-Danmark project "PRECISE – Intelligent solution for sustainable meat production and consumption", which will be done in close collaboration with project partners from Germany and Denmark, such as AmiNIC ApS, Fraunhofer Institute for Silicon technology, Flensburg University of Applied Sciences, KIN Neumünster and Technische Hochschule Lübeck . The main goal of the postdoc work will be to achieve reproducible, ultra-sensitive and upscalable sensing elements for detection of cadaverine from meat/fish samples.

The majority of your working time is devoted to research studies. As a Postdoc you are expected to develop your own ideas and communicate scientific results in English.

What we expect
Candidates with a relevant PhD (physics, microelectronics, material science) and with extensive experience on cleanroom microfabrication, microscopy characterization, surface science and sensor functionalization may seek the position. The experimental skills should include knowledge and experience with functionalization binders, surface modification, sensor testing and calibration and microfabrication techniques.

Preferred candidates have additional experience relevant to the mentioned project within a few of the following topics: cadaverine sensing, experience with techniques such as SEM and AFM, fabrication of SU-8 structures, techniques for control of sensor functionalization.

Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the work, the candidate is expected to have excellent collaboration skills.

We are an international research group working in the field of sensors (https://www.SDU.dk/en/forskning/c_nanosyd/forskningsomrader/sensor-technologies), and we are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our research team at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU), campus Sønderborg. We offer a modern, inclusive, international and interdisciplinary working environment with state-of-the-art facilities as well as a strong tradition of international collaboration. Our ambition is to recruit, develop and retain talented scholars committed to both academic excellence and departmental development.

Having a focus on development of sensors, the group has full access to an ISO5 cleanroom and surface science laboratory facility for preparation and characterization tasks, as well as a roll-to-roll facility for upscaling tasks. The research group is a partner in various national and international research projects and networks that include collaboration partners from both academia and industry.

Conditions of employment
Employment as a postdoc requires scientific qualifications at PhD level. Employment as a postdoc is temporary and will cease without further notice at the end of the period.

Research will be predominant in the position. Teaching assignments can be agreed individually. Furthermore, other types of assignments may occur to a limited degree. The Faculty determines the distribution of the various assignments. The weighting of the different assignments may vary over time.

The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Please check the links for more information on salary and taxation.
