The Position As the Director of Innovation & Research SaMD, you will provide counsel and leadership on a broad range of activities, which requires independent decision-making and an ability to navigate a changing internal and external environment. Furthermore, you are expected to identify and leverage synergies across Novo Nordisk Therapeutic Areas whenever opportunities arise. Your key responsibilities will be: Lead, motivate, and develop a team of 10-12 talents across Denmark (Søborg) and US (Boston and Seattle) and foster deep trust among team members, placing a significant focus on personal growth and team agility Enable strategy & set direction for Innovation & Research of SaMD solutions in line with Device Delivery Solutions (DDS) strategic priorities and Novo Nordisk Therapeutic Area Strategies Reliably deliver a pipeline of innovation and research, and ensure the appropriate levels of technical rigor to commercial robust technologies that meets the user needs Foster strong collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders internally and externally leveraging the network to deliver results and ensure impact Represent Novo Nordisk in relevant international fora and multi-stakeholder initiatives Develop the needed processes and infrastructure to optimize our innovation & research activities with the aim of accelerating development, driving efficiencies, and creating an agile, hands-on culture
This is an exciting opportunity to lead and drive our function and play a central role in developing future SaMD algorithms and solutions while you build a strong network in and outside Novo Nordisk. The role reports to the Vice President of the area. Qualifications Master’s degree and preferably PhD within relevant areas 7-10 years of experience in research and modelling It is an advantage to have experience with SaMD or R&D of Medical Device/Combination product or Diagnostics 5-7 years of leadership and people management responsibility with the ability to lead, motivate, engage, and develop teams Technical foundation with a proven track record of developing, commercializing, and scaling products Fluency in both verbal and written English As a person, you are self-driven, ambitious, detail and process-oriented with a structured approach and strong planning and coordination capabilities. You have excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to ensure involvement internally and externally. Furthermore, you thrive in a changing, complex, and diverse environment. About the department Companion SaMD Solution department in DDS comprises 3 teams with the objectives to lead research, innovation, and project execution of SaMD solutions in close collaboration of the matrix organisation across Novo Nordisk. The 40 skilled and talented employees have the roles as Innovation Leads, Research Scientists, Systems Engineers, and Project Managers with a broad background in different disciplines necessary to develop the future SaMD solutions.
