The position We are looking for a student who is motivated by and enjoys analysing data, problem conceptualization, developing models, and solving these for systems improvements. Some of your daily tasks: Represent the current production process by developing flowsheet models using a discrete event simulation tool Quantify the current state and identify process bottlenecks Generate ideas for process improvements together with process experts and idea screening This position gives you a great opportunity to play a part in shaping the future of our manufacturing facility, in close collaboration with similar teams in research and manufacturing in Novo Nordisk. Since the nature of the job is student-based, you will also have the opportunity to develop and learn how to apply R&D-based concepts into a real-world application using the knowledge that you have and will gain from an academic degree. Furthermore, you will gain experience working in a global company, and manufacturing environment and learn how data can be utilized with the current trend of industry 4.0. Qualifications You are currently studying the field of Chemical Engineering at a Danish university and about to start or already are in an MSc program (at least 2 semesters left), with a focus on mathematical modelling and simulation, optimization, and/or data analysis. Understanding of basic process simulation programs or mathematical programming Curious and an appetite for solving problems by applying a systems approach We use our skills, dedication, and ambition to help people with diabetes and change their lives. About the department You will be a part of the Novo Nordisk Insulin production, Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (PS API) and assigned to Insulin Manufacturing 1 (IM1), the world’s largest Insulin Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) manufacturing facility located in Kalundborg with fermentation, recovery, purification, and utility production under the same roof. In IM1 Bioprocess Improvement-Optimization (IM1BIO), a group of 8 highly skilled co-workers and MSc students are all working with advanced mathematical modelling for bioprocess improvement and optimization. For problem-solving, we follow the multiscale modelling approach and have activities in Applied Mathematical Modelling, Mechanistic Modelling, Process Control Modelling, Capacity Modelling, and Supply Chain Optimization Modelling.
