We are expanding our research both within our core and new therapeutic areas. We are therefore recruiting a talented scientist to support our de novo peptide discovery as well as engineering of new peptide formats using cutting-edge molecular and chemical biology methodologies. The position As a Research Scientist, you will initiate and execute peptide discovery campaigns using library-based technologies. The position requires a detail-oriented mindset combined with the ability to collaborate with colleagues cross-functionally. You will be part of a well-functioning multinational team with the common responsibility to utilize mRNA display technology to the benefit of our early research pipeline. In this role, you will work in project teams with members of various scientific backgrounds across the internal research organization to ensure alignment and the best path forward within our projects. Some of your key responsibilities will include:
  • Planning, performing, and evaluating discovery campaigns for de novo binder identification

  • Performing and interpreting subsequent analyses (comprising molecular biology, analytical chemistry, next-generation sequencing (NGS) and general structure activity and relationship (SAR) understanding)

  • Ensuring excellent scientific quality of the studies and general procedures

  • Presenting, discussing, and prioritizing scientific tasks, challenges, and results within a project team

  • Supporting and engaging in cross-functional/departmental collaboration

  • Identifying and implementing new technologies and technological innovations

    • Qualifications To thrive and succeed in this role, you have:
  • A Master’s or PhD degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, chemical biology, chemistry or a related discipline

  • A strong interest in interdisciplinary work at the interface between chemistry & biology

  • Practical and theoretical knowledge of molecular biology methods (DNA & protein characterization/purification, PCR, Next generation sequencing)

  • Preferably experience in molecular display technologies (phage display, mRNA display, or yeast display)

  • Interest in or experience with chemistry, in particular peptides and proteins would be considered an advantage

  • Interest in or experience with in silico modelling, programming, or machine learning would be considered an advantage

    • On a personal level, you work in a structured manner and pay good attention to details when designing new protocols or experiments. You are self-driven and enjoy responsibility of complex tasks and excel in prioritization. In addition, you are a team player and find it easy to build relationships with team and project members. As a researcher, you enjoy hands-on work in the laboratory and like using your scientific knowledge to solve technical challenges. About the department Research Chemistry is a well-established area within Global Research Technologies, which is part of Research and Early Development. We excel in the discovery and development of multiple molecular formats aiming to defeat serious chronic diseases such as diabetes and obesity. Discovery, design and synthesis of peptides and modified proteins are core elements of our daily work. We are expanding both within our core and new therapeutic areas, and Research Chemistry is therefore growing to continue supporting the discovery pipeline. In Måløv (Greater Copenhagen area, Denmark), where this position will be placed, we are organized into four departments sharing office and lab space and working together dynamically across departments. Furthermore, Research Chemistry comprises one department in Boston, US.
