The position As (Senior) Corporate Counsel for Novo Nordisk, you will pursue innovative approaches to handling challenging legal issues, including forming strategies, defining key project tracks and deliverables, and ensuring execution in close collaboration with internal and external partners. You will provide proactive guidance to the business, seeking out and proposing appropriate solutions to disputes and litigation and coordinating input from multiple business, legal and other functional stakeholders to deliver business strategy. The potential impact of your work is large, given that you will:
  • Be working on cases and investigations that are broad in scope and complexity, identifying critical legal issues and strategic business options
  • Have a key role in supporting the business by ensuring successful outcomes in high-impact litigations and investigations
  • Collaborate with, and influence, senior internal stakeholders from various parts of the organisation
  • Work closely with our Global Legal and other colleagues (Research & Development, Finance, Patents, Communication, Sales & Marketing, etc.) globally, leveraging all relevant competencies
  • Ensure that significant litigation risks are reported
  • Be directing best-in-class external counsel across multiple jurisdictions
  • In addition, you will drive ad hoc projects and activities focused on optimising the way we work, e.g. within risk identification/management and knowledge sharing.
    Because of the global nature of our work, some travel is expected (2-3 weeks/year). Qualifications You hold a law degree and license to practice as a lawyer in at least one jurisdiction combined with 3+ years’ post-qualification experience, including litigation. It is an advantage to have previous experience with intellectual property law and U.S. legal experience. To thrive and succeed we expect you to come with:

  • Project management skills, including ability to drive multiple cases and projects simultaneously in a structured manner, and to take a strategic approach to risk management and prioritisation
  • Strong written and verbal communication and stakeholder management skills, which enable you to clearly convey complex issues and navigate among stakeholders from different cultures and business functions
  • Experience working with high-level executives and members of senior management
  • Proactive and resourceful approach with focus on quality and ability to perform under pressure
  • Ability to speak and write English fluently
  • You will bring to your work a high level of energy, positive attitude, and team-oriented approach, and will join a team of highly motivated, hard-working, and collaborative professionals. About the department
    Global Legal is responsible for managing legal risks and opportunities in Novo Nordisk and for driving the Global Legal strategy. With approximately 300 colleagues globally, the Global Legal function reports to the CFO of Novo Nordisk. The Litigation team is one of five teams within Global Legal and is responsible for managing key litigations and government investigations around the world. You will be part of an ambitious and dynamic team consisting of 8 employees in our corporate headquarters in Denmark.
