The position This newly established position will report to Vice President (VP) of Packaging & Verification Development in Devices & Delivery Solutions (DDS). The department is responsible for providing material science expertise and guidance to the development projects across primary packaging, neutral packaging and device components. In addition, the team will own, drive and guide the processes related to sustainability in DDS and ensure that sustainability is embedded across all DDS areas by providing training, capability building, and communication about sustainability activities. To be successful in this role, substantial stakeholder engagement is required across Devices & Delivery Solutions, as well as with stakeholders in other Executive Vice President (EVP) areas, engaging with senior leaders and project collaborators. The department head is expected to spearhead external partnerships within material science and sustainability with academia and other external development partner organisations. Other responsibilities will include:
  • Overseeing processes to create sustainable products
  • People and scientific leadership
  • Ensure monitoring and implementation of relevant regulatory requirements
  • Supporting material changes of products already in the market
  • Orchestrating the activities connected to sustainability within the Senior Vice President (SVP) area
  • Evaluation of projects
    • In addition, the person will play a driving role in ensuring DDS's engagement in the Circular for Zero agenda in Novo Nordisk. The team currently has eight full-time employees, and the person will also be responsible for extensive student and PhD collaboration. Qualifications To succeed in this role, you have:
  • Extensive experience from similar role in any regulated industry
  • Scientific or engineering academic background
  • Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation
  • Demonstrated strong people leadership expertise
  • Be able to understand the business and translating the needs into strategies
    • As a person you have a strong drive; you are structured, ambitious and visionary with a proven ability to carry through on implementation of strategic projects and activities. You are curious and knowledgeable about trends and opportunities within sustainability and material science. You identify yourself as a strong communicator. About the department Devices & Delivery Solutions consists of close to 400 colleagues who work dedicatedly to design and develop innovative medical devices, delivery solutions and digital therapeutic solutions for our patients. The department Materials Science & Sustainability consists of a group of material scientists - senior professionals and specialists as well as sustainability leads and sustainability process manager; it is established to support succeeding with strategic priorities for future devices and delivery solutions pertaining specifically to sustainability. We are passionate about developing the world’s best medical devices for the treatment of chronic diseases within our focused therapeutic areas such as: Diabetes, Obesity, Haemophilia & Growth hormone disorders ; ensuring a safe and easy use for the patients.
