The position Reporting to the Head of Material Science & Sustainability in Devices & Delivery Solutions (DDS), your key responsibilities as Circularity Lead will be:
  • Ensure a state-of-the-art approach to circular design in the development of devices and delivery solutions
  • Deliver scientific support on circularity, product carbon footprint, etc., and environmental assessments of sustainable material candidates
  • Support the development of sustainable processes and capabilities in DDS
  • Drive key projects and ensure progress on sustainability in line with our strategic priorities and our Circular for Zero strategy
  • Support communication and alignment with key stakeholders across the organisation on sustainability issues
  • Support external collaboration and partnerships within the sustainability field
  • Qualifications To succeed in this role, you have:
  • A scientific or engineering academic background within environmental sustainability and circular economy
  • At least 5 years of experience with circular design and integration of circularity in product development, preferably within life science industry
  • Experience with life cycle assessment, sustainable materials and/or plastic recycling,
  • Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to drive projects independently and communicate clearly
  • As a person you have a strong drive to make an impact; you are structured and have a pragmatic approach to problem-solving. You are curious and knowledgeable about trends and opportunities within circularity. About the department Material Science & Sustainability department drives and guides the processes related to sustainability in DDS and ensures that sustainability is embedded across all DDS areas by providing capability building, sustainability support to projects, and communication about sustainability activities. In addition, the team is responsible for providing material science expertise and guidance to the development projects across primary packaging, neutral packaging and device components. We consist of a group of senior professionals and specialists on materials and environmental sustainability; it is established to support succeeding with strategic priorities for future devices and delivery solutions pertaining specifically to sustainability. We are passionate about developing the world’s best medical devices for the treatment of chronic diseases within our focused therapeutic areas such as: Diabetes, Obesity, Haemophilia & Growth hormone disorders; ensuring a safe and easy use for the patients. The department is anchored to DDS are which consists of close to 400 colleagues who work dedicatedly to design and develop innovative medical devices, delivery solutions and digital therapeutic solutions for our patients.
